Dr. Mike McLaughlin is the owner of Animal Medical Center of Cumming. He attended Auburn University for both his undergraduate and doctorate degrees, graduating in the spring of 1991. His clinical experience includes practicing in hospitals in North Carolina, Alabama and Georgia. He enjoys building personal relationships with both pets and their owners. In his personal time, Dr. Mike and his wife Kim stay busy raising his daughter, Sarah Kay. He enjoys traveling and his hobbies include fishing and hiking. Dr. Mike welcomes you to stop by and visit at any time.
Dr. Joy Markford graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor of Psychology from Penn State. She previously worked for AMC as a veterinary technician before attending grad school. Dr. Joy and her husband Brian are the proud parents of 3 adorable children. She enjoys photography, traveling and spending time with her family.
Dr. Lindsey is the newest addition to our team. She graduated scholar athlete of the year from Meridian Community College before transferring to Mississippi State University to earn her bachelor’s degree in wildlife, fisheries, and aquaculture. Dr. Lindsey graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has special interests in behavior, internal medicine, and exotic animal medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys playing any kind of sport, fantasy football, hiking with her dog and fiancé, and cuddle time with her red tabby cat.
Dr. Leisa graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in 2001. She remained in Athens and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Jennings initially had a primary interest in research but discovered that she loved practicing medicine. She has always harbored a special interest in avian medicine and spent two years practicing at an exclusively exotics practice in Florida. The remainder of her years since graduation has been spent at small animal practices in Georgia. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her fur babies, reading, learning guitar, and outdoor activities.
