Contrary to popular belief, foul breath is not something you must simply live with. In fact, it’s a sign that your pet is experiencing a dental problem. Periodontal disease is the most common clinical condition in dogs and cats. Untreated dental disease can cause more than tooth loss and painful gums, it can actually affect vital organs such as the heart and kidneys.
The dental team at AMC is experienced in performing a wide range of professional pet dentistry services. We use modern dental equipment to examine, clean and polish the teeth, helping to keep plaque and tarter at bay. We are skilled at performing at oral surgery and extractions as needed for pet’s that already suffer from existing dental problems.
During the dental cleaning, our veterinarian performs an oral cancer screening and looks for abnormalities such as broken teeth and gum infections. A periodontal probe is used to check for pockets underneath the gum line, where periodontal disease starts. The doctor uses an ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque and tartar from crevices underneath the gum line. Next, your pet’s teeth will be polished to smooth out any scratches in the enamel. Severely infected or loose teeth may require extraction.
We use only the safest sedation products to ensure that your pet’s dental care will be handled in the most efficient, effective and comfortable way possible. Don’t ignore your pet’s dental problems any longer. Make a commitment to your companion’s ongoing dental care and let us help your pet enjoy a healthy mouth.
