Whether it’s a weekend away or a day at work, there are times when we can’t take our pets with us.  That can be difficult.  We, at Animal Medical Center of Cumming, understand.  That’s why we offer full-service boarding and doggie daycare. We believe in offering services for all aspects of your pet’s wellbeing. This is why we are proud to offer full service boarding and doggie daycare as part of our comprehensive pet care services. We want you to have the peace of mind that comes from knowing your pet is being well-cared for.

You are encouraged to come in and tour our facility beforehand. We’d love to show you around and answer any questions you may have. Our staff takes pride in caring for your precious pets while you are away by providing a fun, clean, safe, and loving environment.

Unlike other facilities, the Animal Medical Center has veterinarians on-site.  Our staff is trained to carefully monitor your pet’s health.  If they detect any changes, they will bring it to our vets’ attention.  If treatment is required, we will contact you at the emergency numbers listed on the boarding form.

Our boarding facilities are designed with your pet in mind.  Pets are lodged in size-appropriate cages and walked a minimum of three times a day, and more for those with special needs.  Cat cages are cleaned twice a day.  All pets are monitored hourly.  With a centrally monitored fire protection and security service, your pet is as safe and secure as possible.

Your pets are fed according to your instructions.  If your pet requires a special diet or needs medication, we have trained staff to help with aging pets or those with special needs.

While pets are being boarded or are at doggie daycare, why not take advantage of our grooming services?  We offer baths, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, and nail trims.  Added services include coat conditioning, nail filing, and teeth brushing.  Incorporating some or all of our grooming services into your pet’s stay ensures you’ll take home an appearance-perfect pet.

Our boarding amenities include a doggie daycare package: Your dog is sure to have a ball in one of our four play parks. Pawnee Mountain fort boasts a howling good time with activities such as Frisbee, fetching, bubble chasing and water fun. Dogs will receive group play/socialization time twice a day and special treats. Cats will receive personal play time with our loving staff and exclusive access to our cat tree in the Catnip Lounge.

Our playtime package provides a safe, fun, and stimulating environment for dogs.  Dogs will interact with our trained team members as well as other dogs, to ensure proper socialization.  Dogs will play in groups of eight or less.  When grouping dogs, we will look at the breed, the size, and the demeanor to determine the best group for them.  For dogs that do not socialize well, one-on-one time is available.

Our facilities have four play parks.  Pawnee Mountain has space for catching Frisbees and playing catch.  It also includes water fun, and bubble chasing.  Cats can relax in the Catnip Lounge and play in our cat tree.

Proof of up-to-date vaccinations is required before your pet can be boarded.  Dogs and cats should be tested for internal and external parasites such as fleas, ticks, and worms.  All pets must be up-to-date on their core vaccines.  For dogs, the immunizations include:

  • Rabies.
  • Distemper.
  • Canine Hepatitis.
  • Parvovirus.
  • Parainfluenza.

Bordetella and Canine Influenza vaccinations are recommended when boarding dogs.  If your dogs received a DHPP vaccination, they received a combination vaccine that covers canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza.

For cats, the following core vaccinations are required:

  • Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis
  • Calicivirus
  • Panleukopenia or Feline distemper
  • Rabies.

A combination vaccine — FVRCP — protects against Calicivirus, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, and Feline Distemper and may appear on your cat’s list of immunizations.  Chlamydia and Bordetella are recommended for cats in congregate settings.  Chlamydia may be given in combination with the FVRCP vaccine.  It would appear as FVRCP-C on a list of immunizations.

When dropping off your pet, please have your pet leashed.  Even the most obedient of pets can misbehave in new environments.  Please bring the following items with your pet:

  • Food.  Bring enough food for the time the animal will be boarded.
  • Medications.  Bring any medications in the original containers.
  • Proof of Vaccinations.  Include a list of vaccinations and when they were given.

Personal items may be included.

For more information or reserve a boarding time, contact us.  We will be happy to answer your questions or arrange a time to view our facilities.

Vaccines & Wellness

Surely you’ve heard the expression, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Veterinary care isn’t just for when your pet is sick. In fact, routine care is the most effective way to extend your pet’s life and keep him happy and healthy.<br />

Diagnostics

A thorough physical exam can disclose many health issues, but sometimes an exam is not sufficient by itself. Since our animal companions can’t speak, they are unable to describe all of the symptoms they are experiencing when they don’t feel well.

Grooming

Keeping your pet healthy on the outside is just as important as keeping him healthy on the inside. There are many health benefits to having your pet groomed. Regular brushing removes dead hair and distributes natural oils throughout the coat which promotes healthier skin.

Dentistry

Contrary to popular belief, foul breath is not something you must simply live with. In fact, it’s a sign that your pet is experiencing a dental problem. Periodontal disease is the most common clinical condition in dogs and cats.
